The ubiquitous "we" saw Mirrormask last night. It has reinvigorated my belief that critics are 90% full of crap, because the movie was fantastic. It exists very much in same vein as Labyrinth, only without the songs or David Bowie's bulge. Visually, it's 100% Dave McKean. Jason put it best when he said, "I have never seen a movie that so fully reflected the tastes of its director." The overall story and plot elements, on a macro level, are not original by any means, but the execution and details that accompany them make that inconsequential. If you're fortunate enough to have a showing where you live (there is exactly one theater in the greater Seattle area showing it), jump on it while you can. Cheers.
