Shaolin Soccer
Mar. 8th, 2004 11:54 pmYes, it's incredibly cheesey, and 90% of the soccer balls in it are computer animated, but I loved Shaolin Soccer. In it, a group of six brothers who grew up in a Shaolin monestary use soccer as a way to show kung fu to the world, as their master instructed them to do. It plays off of many of the old kung fu movie bits, switching between doing it seriously and doing it satirically so often that pretty soon you can't tell which is which. And seeing as all the "soccer games" are really just odd kung fu battles, you don't even have to like soccer to enjoy it.
Cheers.
