I'm not a nerd... nerds are smart.
Apr. 8th, 2004 06:34 pmI get along with computers. Generally, I can fix problems as they arise, install my own hardware, figure out new programs, etc. I am, however, not a coder, programmer, or IT person of any sort, and my knowledge has distinct limits. Because of this, I am always extra happy when I fix a problem or figure something out that I didn't know before. Today, I updated the firmware on my home router and changed some settings on it that has drastically increased the performance of some internet-related programs on my computer. Azuerus, for instance, is now downloading .torrent files at 50-150 KB/s now, as opposed to the 2-15 KB/s I was getting before. This makes me happy.
By the way, my subject is not meant to be disparaging towards nerds. I'm saying that I would be nerd if I were just smarter than I am. As it is, I consider myself to be a geek.
